Stripe's fees at a glance (US)

These are the standard rates on Stripe's US pricing page on October 20, 2026. Larger businesses can ask Stripe for custom pricing.

Stripe also sells optional products, such as Billing, Invoicing, Tax and Radar fraud screening, each with its own price. Check the pricing page for the ones you'd turn on.

Stripe vs Whop: the fees side by side

Whop publishes its rates the same way. Both are percentages plus a fixed amount per successful payment.

What Stripe (US) Whop
Domestic card 2.9% + 30¢ 2.7% + $0.30
International card + 1.5% + 1.5%
Currency conversion + 1% + 1%
Dispute $15 (+$15 to counter) $15
Monthly fee none none
Payout free standard, 1.5% instant $2.50 next-day ACH, other methods vary

For the full breakdown of payouts, alerts and optional features, see our guide to Whop fees.

Worked examples

Rounded to the cent, standard cards, no optional products.

Order Stripe Whop
$50 domestic $1.75 (3.5%) $1.65 (3.3%)
$50 international, currency converted $3.00 (6.0%) $2.90 (5.8%)
$200 domestic $6.10 (3.05%) $5.70 (2.85%)
$20 domestic $0.88 (4.4%) $0.84 (4.2%)

The fixed 30¢ weighs most on small orders: on a $20 order it's 1.5% on its own. Bundles and upsells that raise the order value lower your effective rate with either provider.

On small orders, the fixed fee per payment matters more than the percentage.

Fees aren't the whole story

The percentage gap between providers is usually small. What decides the cost of running your store is whether your account keeps working:

  • Who they accept. Stripe publishes a list of restricted businesses. If your category is on it, the rate doesn't matter; see our Stripe alternative guide.
  • Reserves and holds. Any provider can hold part of your balance if your refunds or disputes rise. A frozen payout costs more than any fee difference.
  • Disputes. Each dispute costs a fee and the order amount. Clear descriptors, tracking and quick refunds keep the rate down.
  • Country. Stripe and Shopify Payments aren't available everywhere; see which countries they support.

Using Stripe or Whop on Shopify

On Shopify, cards usually go through Shopify Payments, which itself runs on Stripe in many countries. Taking payments with another provider adds Shopify's third-party transaction fee of 2%, 1%, 0.6% or 0.2% depending on your plan; our guide to Shopify fees has the details and examples.
