What to look for in an ecommerce payment gateway
- Approval for your business model. Dropshipping, digital products and subscriptions are often refused or reviewed later.
- Reliable payouts. Holds and reserves cost more than any fee difference.
- Countries. Where you can open the account, and where it pays out.
- Wallets. Apple Pay and Google Pay are the fastest way to pay on a phone.
- Checkout conversion. One page, few fields, your branding, the shopper's language.
- Total cost. Card rate plus international, conversion, platform and payout fees.
- Shopify fit. Orders, inventory, discounts and taxes should keep working.

When Shopify Payments is still the right choice
If Shopify Payments is available in your country, approves your store and keeps paying out, it's the simplest option. Many stores add Chekvo and Whop when that stops being true: a hold, a closure, a country it doesn't serve, or a product category it reviews.
