How it's calculated

Profit per order
= price − product − shipping − fees − ad cost per purchase
Monthly profit
= profit per order × orders − monthly costs

Example

$39.90 price, $9 product, $5 shipping, 2.9% + $0.30 fees ($1.46) and $15 ads per purchase leave $9.44 per order. At 300 orders with $350 of monthly apps and plan: 9.44 × 300 − 350 = $2,482.

The costs people forget

Payment fees on every order, refunds and chargebacks, apps billed monthly, and the per-order fees some checkout and upsell apps add. A product that looks like $15 profit can be $5 once they're counted.

Read it with break-even ROAS

The calculator shows the ROAS your ads must beat. If your ads dashboard sits close to it, small changes in ad costs wipe out the profit; work on order value or costs before scaling spend.

FAQ

How do I calculate dropshipping profit?

Selling price minus supplier cost, shipping, payment fees and ad cost per purchase gives profit per order. Multiply by orders and subtract monthly costs for the month's profit.

What margin do I need for dropshipping?

Enough to pay for ads per order and still keep a profit. The break-even ROAS shown here tells you how efficient your ads have to be at your current margin.

Should I count Shopify's subscription?

Yes, with your apps and tools in monthly costs. Card fees per order go in the fee fields.

How do I raise profit per order?

Higher order value (bundles, one-click upsells after payment), better supplier or shipping prices, and fewer per-order app fees.
