Click-through rate

1.5%

How it's calculated

CTR
= clicks ÷ impressions × 100

Example

An ad was shown 18,000 times and clicked 270 times. CTR = 270 ÷ 18,000 × 100 = 1.5%.

Reading CTR

CTR shows how well the creative and the audience match. It doesn't show whether the click turns into a sale: a curiosity-bait ad can have a high CTR and a poor conversion rate. Track CTR with conversion rate and cost per purchase.

FAQ

How do I calculate CTR?

Divide clicks by impressions and multiply by 100. 270 clicks from 18,000 impressions is a 1.5% CTR.

What's a good CTR?

It depends on the platform, placement and offer. Compare against your own past ads for the same audience rather than a general benchmark.

Does CTR affect what I pay?

On auction platforms, ads people engage with are usually shown more cheaply, so a better CTR often lowers CPM and CPC.

Is CTR the same as conversion rate?

No. CTR is clicks per impression; conversion rate is purchases (or sign-ups) per visit or click.
